I've gotten kind of tired of seeing everything on this site being called a masterpiece...when it is not. In traditional art and craftsman ship, your masterpiece was, as mentioned in the above article, what got you further advancement in the old guild system. It was also what you showed potential customers when they were deciding wether or not to have you do a painting for them. It was supposed to exemplify every aspect of painting within one piece, so he / she could see what you were particularly skilled in. Thus, most people on this site have NOT yet created their masterpiece, the climax of all their art training and experiences. So please deviants, stop telling someone they have 20 different masterpieces. Start using intelligent words, such as describing line, contour, colors, composition. Attempt a discussion rather than "THATS SO COOL AND DETAILED".... it is very blue / green / purple and detailed....? Learn some vocabulary and start discussing art.
